Reviewer Spotlight on Cindy Mitchell

Rarely do we we have the opportunity to catch up with favorite reviewers and bloggers in person, so we’re glad that recently happened when Publisher Spotlight founder Ellen Myrick was in Utah. She met with Kiss the Book‘s Cindy Mitchell in suburban Salt Lake City where Cindy is a middle school librarian, at South Jordan Middle School. Cindy saw a need for peer reviewed books to fit the needs of her students and their community, and that went beyond professional journals’ coverage. She coordinates reviews from a large number of educational professionals and makes the reviews available through her longtime blog. We are delighted to introduce Cindy Mitchell to you here as she tells us about how Kiss the Book came to be, her process for selecting and reviewing books, and the impact the review work has had on her students and the professional community at large.

We work with over one hundred independent book reviewers in addition to maintaining book review support for our retainer clients with trade and professional journals. We are grateful that Cindy and her collective are among them, bringing us informed opinions of the kids’ books arriving new each season.
