In accordance with tradition (to say nothing of popular demand!), Publisher Spotlight put in a grand appearance on the exhibits floor at the 2023 American Library Association’s annual conference. Booth 3122 was the launch pad for nearly two dozen publishers from around the world, eight author signings, host and visitor spontaneous booktalks, and home to the Welcoming Library project from I’m Your Neighbor Books.
You can get a taste for the energy, and some quiet moments, too, in our conference album. And you can find information about all the contents of the booth here on Pinterest.
Ellen Myrick also performed her popular and always jam-packed presentation in the Book Buzz Theater on the exhibits floor. This time, she invited the audience to Read Around the World from board books, picture books, early chapter and middle grade fiction and nonfiction, teen novels, and illustrated nonfiction for older readers, as well as graphic novels and a note about audiobook editions of international titles.
If you’d like to see ALL the titles she touched, here they are:
Publisher Spotlight staff also had the opportunity to get a first look at the forthcoming Infographica, coming from the partnership between Britannica Books and What On Earth Books. We know you can anticipate a LOT of browsing ahead!
Is the Welcoming Library new to you? This project created by the inimitable Kirstin Cappy of I’m Your Neighbor Books deserves your attention wherever your community calls home.
Our booth hosted author book signings on three different days and we tried to capture interviews with each. The hall was abuzz so you may need to use closed captions on the YouTube edition of this one with Mia Wenjen talking about her new nonfiction picture book from Barefoot Books, Food for the Future:
Did we have a good time? Yes! Did we come home tired? Well, a little…. Are we ready to get on the road for our next conference? You bet!
